Agartala (Tripura) [India], March 21 (HBTV): A significant political development has unfolded in Tripura: Major opposition parties including the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian National Congress, Gana Manch, All Tripura Peoples Party, Communist Party of India, and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), have united and forged an alliance under the banner of the INDIA bloc.

Their goal is one: Preserve democracy and uphold the Constitution of India. The parties said they are determined to combat the "fascist government" both at the state and centre during the Lok Sabha polls.

The announcement was made at a press conference at the Agartala Press Club conference hall on Wednesday. Key political figures including Jitendra Chowdhury, the opposition leader of Tripura attended the event.

Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee President Ashish Saha declared to jointly fight against the "fascist government that is prevailing both in the state and the centre".

‘Along with the Congress and CPIM, three are now more parties namely Gana Manch, All Tripura Peoples Party, and CPIML, who have joined the INDIA bloc in Tripura. It's a matter of happiness,’ he said.

‘Together, we all will fight against the BJP government (BJP), which TIPRA Motha joined recently. Our fight is to save democracy, and protect the Constitution and we will contest in a democratic way. And jointly, we will fight against the fascist government that is prevailing both in the state and the centre,’ he said.

The coalition aims to challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, Indigenous People's Front of Tripura, and TIPRA Motha government in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
